Change Serial Number Phoenix Bios Utility

Hi,: There is a major issue with the HP business support pages missing a ton of drivers, utilities, etc. I reported the issue two weeks ago to HP, who is aware of the matter. Since I am not employed by nor do I represent HP, I don't know when they will restore the drivers to the support pages.

They are also supposedly getting rid of support files for any devices over 10 years old, which that utility is at least 15. On my HP 8200 Elite CMT, there is a way to change the serial number and asset tag in the BIOS by doing this. After entering BIOS Setup by hitting the ESC key, and then selecting the F10 option from the menu, press Ctrl+A to open additonal fields in Security>System IDs menu. You can change/enter your PC's serial number in Asset Tag Number and Chassis Serial Number in the applicable fields. Save changes there, and again when you exit the BIOS.

You're very welcome. I just did a search of the HP business support site's entire driver section and that utility no longer shows up. I don't think that using that utility (if it worked on the Z400 at all) would resolve the online utility problem. But I guess you have nothing to lose by giving it a shot.

I had bookmarked the link to the driver so that gave me the name of the utility. Though it is gone from the HP website, I googled the name and found it on a 3rd party website. I have zipped up and attached it below.

I checked it for viruses and whatnot. Looks fine to me. You will need to follow the instructions I posted a few years ago. You must use a USB FDD.

Ok, i have a HP Tablet PC TC1100, also known as a Tx1100. I have a need to change the serial number and the asset tag. Trainingpeaks wko cracked rib.

I've tried using DMI tools however they can not write to this Bios. The bios version is as fellows: Bios Vendor = Phoenix Bios Version = FirstBIOS Pro 2002 Q3 Bios Released = After reading a HP customer solution ( ), I come to beleive that DMITool4.0 would be capable of writing to the bios and i suspect would be able to change the values that i wish to change.

However this is only availabe internaly in HP and not to the public. So that was the end of that. So, what are your thoughts?

Does any one know how to write to a bios that seems to be un-writable. In the worst case i could remove the bios and solder a new one on. I have no checked but i'm pretty sure its not socketed. Any help would be great. Ok, after much marking around, and a whole night of slow progress. To edit any section of a phenoix bios, a simple way of doing it is to download Phoenix WinPhlash, this is used to write to the bios.

You just need a copy of the rom for your bios, so that you can edit it how you want and then flash it to the bios using WinPhlash. For me, i obtained a perfect copy from my computer manuafacture, by downloading a bios flash update.

Number

Which when used updates the bios, but not the DMI strings as i needed. But if you extract the executeble's, theres a copy of the rom, which includes the DMI strings.

So use this rom, with Phoenix's WinPhlash. And you can edit your bios however you want. It did the job for me. PS> I need job, so any company finds this work intresting, hire me. Hi, I don't believe 'Phoenix WinPhlash' is the same as 'Phoenix BIOS editor' but it may do the job. I'm not exactly sure where I got it from I'm sure you could still find it around on the net. When you extract them from the update.

You can edit them with text editors to be what you want them to be. And then from there you can use them with Phoenix WinPhlash. I did this successfully with 2 laptops. I'd love to hear how you go. And also just wondering but what bois version is it that your working with. And what type of computer is it in.
